TITLE IX

Title IX for Employees

In accordance with the California State University’s Executive Orders 1096 and 1097, any University employee, except where they are recognized as a confidential resource under the subject policies (i.e. those employees who work in the Student Health Center, or police receiving a report from an individual who requests confidentiality of his or her identity pursuant to Penal Code Section 293),  who is made aware of a possible instance of sex discrimination or harassment, including sexual violence, committed against a campus community member, must report this information to the Title IX Coordinator.

By reporting, you are not only ensuring that the University is able to properly respond, but more importantly, you are ensuring that the individual who may have experienced sexual misconduct is connected with those on campus trained to assist them, offer support, and address the safety of the individual and others within our University community.

It is unlawful to subject another individual, regardless of his/her gender or gender identity, to sex discrimination, which includes sexual harassment.  Fresno State does not discriminate on the basis of sex, gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation in its employment practices, or in the education programs and activities it conducts in accordance with the Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, as well as Title VI and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.  The University does not tolerate— and prohibits under CSU Executive Order 1096-the sexual discrimination of anyone on its campus and within the jurisdiction of the University by an employee.

Title IX Required Training for Employees

The California State University Executive Order 1095 requires faculty, staff, and student employees to complete training regarding CSU policies against Sexual Discrimination, Sexual Harassment, Sexual Misconduct, Dating and Domestic violence, and Stalking, and to make victim resources available, including comprehensive victim services.

Two courses are assigned to employees to assist in meeting the requirements of the Executive Order:

CSU's Sexual Misconduct Prevention Program - To be completed annually

CSU's Discrimination Harassment Prevention Program - To be completed every two years

(either the supervisor course or the non-supervisor course)
California State University Executive Order 1096 requires all faculty, staff and student employees to complete training regarding policies against Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation (DHR) every 2 years.  The DHR courses many of us have completed in the past have been updated and therefore all employees will need to take a new course this year.

Employees will be assigned one of the following courses:

Non-Supervisor Course

(assigned to most faculty and staff) is one hour.

Supervisor Course

(assigned to MPPs who supervise and Department Chairs) is two hours.

Students who are also employed by Fresno State (i.e. work-study, student worker) are required to complete BOTH training programs.
